Sail panel replacement

Post by phfh440 » Fri May 08, 2020 12:14 pm

I would like to get the opinions of anyone on this forum that is willing to offer one. I have a 2001 10th ann. Firehawk , that is suffering from the common issue of adhesive bubbling up on the sail panel/roof section between the t-tops and the rear hatch. My options are, replace it with a fiberglass one and have it painted to match, or go with exposed carbon fiber.

I'd go Fiberglass, but do what what tickles your fancy, it's your car

I agree with Nick, go fiberglass & have it painted to match.
I had mine done by GM way back in 2002/3 when it had about 29k miles on it.

But even if you did get the CF unit, it could be painted to match also, if absolutely necessary. (You could run with it as CF, & paint it later if necessary.)
But the CF is a bit more costly.

Some people have gone out to the salvage yards & removed an old one from a 93-97 car too.
(Maybe later years too, I don't remember what year they started using the crappy glue.

I also have a 2001 and replaced the sail panel w/ fiberglass. Looks great and so far so good.
