I am not such a worry wart about the tires either... but maybe that is just me.

The other day I went to the track and decided to run on a whim, but did not bring the ET Streets. Ended up trapping 114 with the 10 year old SZ50's, still no traction off the line though. We use them on the car for long distance cruises, around town or whatever. Obviously no where near as good as fresh tires, but they are the last set I have of them. After them, I will just switch to a tire made in the last 3 years.

you know how to drive. Most of the Hawks I see at the rally dial in 13.5 and run in the 14s. makes me giggle like a little girl. Very few at the rally can actually drive. Included in that is me. If someone else drove my car, it be 10's all day long. I just happen to not know when too throttle is too much throttle. But I love the practicing!!!

Well the red 'verts cherry was popped today. First off traction was NON-EXISTANT! They did not prep or treat the track 1 time. The tires did not help me but I didnt die either, 8.5 yr old tires did their job-must have been a good tire when they were new, I was never a Firestone fan. The old 'vert went 13.53@105.42 skating through 2nd and 3rd with a 2.200 60' (car was way to easy to get sideways in between shifts). There are an easy .2-.3 there but it wasnt going to happen at this track, I may have to repeat this at Norwalk. Quite a few people were Impressed this old drop top would run that nice-esp. the SRT owner that it was faster than and he was on DR's!

13.53 is STOUT!

Very impressive.

Saw a new Camaro only run a 14.27 here last fall. I'm sure he must have really been spinning. He was running a 2008 GMC pickup (concealed nitrous), who ran a 14.20 to win.

The guy with the Camaro went home very unhappy, thinking he lost to a stock 4500LB truck.

like I said im going to repeat this at Norwalk because there was no help from the track. I feel the car has more in it but I need to do it against a clock to verify.

thanks. been awhile since i took a 6spd car down on street radials. my last cars i did that with were my 03 Cobra and 04 Z06 on F1's-been a couple years. i think it will do a lil better. i know i lost time when the rear of my firehawk was coming around on the 2nd and 3rd shift. we will see soon enough when it goes to Norwalk in the next week or two.
