95 hawk owners come inside ? for ya

Post by 25thhawk » Sat Jun 30, 2012 7:21 pm

Does your hawk have a black trim piece all the way around the hatchback glass or just on the bottom where it touches the spoiler? My 95 hawk has it all the way around and my 94 TA has it only on the bottom. Trying to figure out which was it should be cause I need to replace it on my 95 hawk. Thanks

My 95 (GM Production late Oct 94) has the trim ALL the way around the window.

Ryan, I think your 94 is right. Our 95 has the trim all the way around the hatch, while the 94's have it on the bottom only. They are all high rise spoiler hatches.

As the 94 hatches age/weather the rubber trim can contract and the end pieces will split off. The 95+ design eliminates this by being all one piece.

Thanks Dan. Actually the problem I am having is that the qlue they mount the moulding with is becoming soft in the sun and any type of dust, leaves, etc. stick to it. So I need to remove and reglue it on with urethane.

looks like a real PITA to clean and fix.

Dan: have you been to any shows or the track at all. I didnt see the pontiac show at E-town this year? We went to carlisle and been racing at island dragway alot. But not many shows

The Pontiac show at E-town was replaced with an all GM show. I didn't go. Haven't had the 25th or the Comp to any shows this year, just around the block occasionally. I'm hoping to at least get to a few local cruise nights, but now it's too hot.

As far as the gasket, I used a straight razor blade edge and lots of glass cleaner and rubbing alcohol to get the old glue off the glass. To glue it back on I used black silicone and placed thin cardboard between the gasket and the hatch to keep pressure on it while it dried. Just go a little bit at a time.

Hope to catch up with you guys at a show sometime soon.

Definitely. I gotta look at e-town schedule, see what is going on. I think I might go to the big 3 race in nov. with my camaro. But i havent looked at the rest of their schedule. Been going to island mostly, get alot more runs in, nicer people, track isnt as good. But lots of fun. I know the NJ f-body club goes their during the fall. Ill have to check the date if ur interested. I was going to go to Saratoga today, but supposed to get t-storms. So i didnt want to waste the drive.

I can confrim your inquiry. My 94 has a build date of 9-93 and has the trim at the bottom only, (I'm sure it came that way from GM as it only has 5,300 miles). However, both 95's have trim all the way around the back glass.
