Matt,
I tried 2 search engines, travelocity, expedia and orbitz. I can find no other motel in Geneseo except the Deck which is the old truck stop on the NW corner of the interesection and I have had enough of those thank you very much.
We'll be there around 7AM to join up with you on Friday morning.

Matt,

Looking forward to the convoy and the rally. Can't see getting a 2-way radio between now and Friday, or using it otherwise. However, we do have Nextel phones with their own internal 2-way.

My 2-way # for the Nextel is: 130*18865*3. If anybody wants to add it to their Nextel phone, feel free.

At any rate it will be fun to see you all.

Thanks, Dave Harvey

Hi Dave, I have a nextel # also it is 140*1029*16. We plan on taking the convoy route. I have a CB too be not sure its going to work. Trailering the hawk so not sure if I'll be able to stick with the convoy but I'm going to try to keep up. I'll program your # in so I can have a contact person. Thanks, Darrell. :)

Hey Darrell,

Okay, I've got your Nextel 2-way #, will put in phone this evening.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

I didn't realize 2-way radios were as cheap as they are (never looked at them before)- we actually might pick up a couple.

Motorolas seem to have the best range. Best buy or Walmart usually have a good one for around $15 or 20.
If only 25 cars are along, that should be a little under a mile in length, if we're not broken up.

2 way radios

Post by blkhwk55 » Thu Aug 07, 2003 12:15 am

Not familiar with two-ways. See there is a sale at Office max here in Lansing. They mention Uniden or Cobra?? Any opinions?? Stick to Motorola?? I notice there is a channel mentioned (5) or a sub channel (0).

Is it worthwhile to get ones that have sub channel capability? What does this mean? Or do I even really need to know that?

Thanks, Dave Harvey

Sub channel allows you to switch to a slightly different frequency, giving you greater flexibility in communicating without interference from other users on the same channel. If you don't plan on using them much, I wouldn't worry about it.

I picked channel 5, sub channel 0, which allows radios without the subchannel feature to communicate with us.

Any brand should be ok, but when it comes to radios, Motorola makes some of the best.
