Anyone running 315"s tires on the rear wheels?

Post by matt » Fri Nov 11, 2011 9:01 pm

I saw 99 Formula with 315's on the back looked awesome from the back, nice stance. Anybody run those? Any problems? I am currently running 285/40/17 Kumhos on the back on my 93. Wheel size is 17x8.5 :)

Putting 315s on an 8.5" rim is a no no. It causes the sidewalls to be pulled in and rounds the tire tread reducing the size of the contact patch. You should use at least a 10 or 10.5" wide rim.

I will stay with the 285's. I also priced the 315's there a little pricey.

Seems like more Camaro owners have issues with 315s rubbing than Firebird owners. Not sure why though. Some people have had to break out the BFH and bang on some spots behind the tire and some have had to roll their wheel opening over a little to create some space.

If you do a Google search on it I'm sure you'll find a bunch of info about it.
