160 Thermostate question

Post by Stringfellow » Fri Dec 23, 2011 12:02 am

For those who have them, what temp did you program your fans to turn on at?
I ordered one of the stats and will also get the manual fan switch as well and install both at once for staging lane control but curious what you guys set the PCM at?
Thanks

i have a 160 and it rarely goes over that... i can only guess it's set at about the same highest it ever climbed was into the red in Vegas in stop and go traffic in about 110*'s ... even with drag radials the roads were like an ice rink! lol

To have the fans come on earlier, you have to program the computer for that or install the manual fan switch to be at your control but the fans won't come on until 215.
I talked to a few people and they agree to keep it the same 20 difference for the 160 stat making it 180 or put it 160. I think ill program it at 175 or 180 and install the manual switch to keep total control especially for stop n go traffic on hot days and staging lanes.

Your temp gauge is a dummy gauge, only 98s have true temp gauge. Only time it will read differently is if your thermostat is hanging open and it can't heat up, or its overheating. Otherwise it will always read around 210*.

Your fans need to be programmed to match your thermostat, if not it throws a wrench in the works and your car can run hotter even with a lower temp tstat.
