Tires for your Street Driven Hawk
My tires are over 6 years old and showing signs of age.
What kind of tires are you running on your street rims?
I was thinking Goodyear Eagle; I don't need drag radials, I have a second set of wheels for racing.

Money isn't an issue. The goal here is to find the right tire for the application.Scott Chab wrote:What is your budget? Dry weather or dry and wet?
This car will see wet and dry road conditions, it will not be driven in freezing weather or in snow.

BFG KDW2 (about $750/set) or Goodyear Eagle F1 (about $1100/set).James_Montigny wrote:Money isn't an issue. The goal here is to find the right tire for the application.Scott Chab wrote:What is your budget? Dry weather or dry and wet?

I have NITTO 555R on my Hawk and love them! I've been caught in rain and they are excellent. Don't know if Nitto still sells them or not. It's been almost 7 years since I bought them.

Re: Tires for your Street Driven Hawk
Thank you for the advice guys
They're relatively inexpensive too.
Wet traction was ok, but not as nice as some other tires I have run.
I set it up to be a street toy that I take to the track every once in a while, but they closed the track.
So now it's a trip to Topeka if I want to test/tune/race. Not horrible, but less convenient that having a track 20 min away.
Although, to be fair, I did let the build project drag on for 4 years so I don't have much room to whine.
Firehawk tires are appealing because of the name and they do handle decently well.
They'll also work well in colder conditions if needed. I'm not sure that that matters a whole lot.
I heard a few people complaining about quality control issues on those, but they seem pretty popular on the roudy round boards.93hawk#82 wrote:Liked these and they reviewed well by auto-X guys....

I was looking at those, they seem to come highly recommended at tirerack.93hawk#82 wrote:CONTINENTAL EXTREME CONTACT DW

I had those on my 95 bird about 10 years ago, they did well in the summer.DraganHawk wrote:I have NITTO 555R on my Hawk and love them! I've been caught in rain and they are excellent. Don't know if Nitto still sells them or not. It's been almost 7 years since I bought them.

I have been looking at the Eagles, they seem to handle great but people complain about ride quality.Scott Chab wrote:BFG KDW2 (about $750/set) or Goodyear Eagle F1 (about $1100/set).
