Brake switch failure

Post by mikecronis » Sun Feb 19, 2017 8:59 pm

Seems the brake switch is messing up. High-rise tail-light and turn-signals work but brake pedal doesn't illuminate lamps. Also cruise doesn't work. Removed the knee kick-panel under the steering-wheel and checked the brake switch (seemed fine) touched it and moved it a bit, then tried the brakes and they now illuminate.

This worked for 2 days and then the same thing happened again. Felt behind the kick-panel and touched it lightly and then brake lights work again (for now). I suspect it merely needs an adjustment (checked all fuses and they're good). Probably a loose contact.

I'm taking it in to a Caddy dealership because they have one on-hand anyway.

I tried to clean and lube my old switch and it would quit in a day or 2 so I just replaced it.
Always looking for SLP/Firehawk parts for 3rdgen birds.
PM me.

Turns out it was the turn-signal switch. A portion of that switch has the brake-signal running through it but not the high-rise. Interesting.
