Share Ideas for the 25th Rally

Post by Maplehawk » Mon Aug 06, 2018 12:04 pm

2019 will be the 25th year the Firehawks will flock to Ohio for an August rally

We want this to be the biggest one in a long time. Share some ideas you think would make it great? special? not to be missed?

Mine:

A. Invite some of the former SLP / Pontiac notables
B. Invite former owners and regulars to return and reconnect with friends
C. Coordinate inbound convoys from multiple directions (including the trailered cars)
D. Increased sponsored prizes (Long distance, best display, etc)
E. More volunteers to tackle some of the activities (cruise, drag racing, prizes, promotions)
F. Designated photographers to capture high quality images throughout the weekend.
G. Ads/Announcements in publications (Smoke Signals, Pontiac Perfection) , message boards posts (F-body and Pontiac printed)
I. Cars from every single year, cars in every single color (its a goal, might motivate a specific owner to be the "only one"). Start a wish list / bingo sheet.

One idea from Keven Shar was doing plaques instead of trophies for the 25th. We have done trophies for 24 years, so it would be something different and sometimes plaques are easier to display inside the car.

Thoughts?

Those are some great ideas.. I really like inviting former SLP / Pontiac notables

Wonder how bad a patina JY 92 clone would be shunned. . .
Always looking for SLP/Firehawk parts for 3rdgen birds.

a different dinner night location where we convoy cruise with police escort to the dinner and the video is still played.

- i also think a huge photo shoot of all the cars would be pretty cool!

Friday night meet and greet to be held and reintroduce the go karts after the meet. The plaque idea is very cool instead of the trophy’s.

Ask the bar to remain open. Why would they close when we're in town? Somebody didn't communicate that we WOULD be back shortly.

These are all great ideas considering that this will be my first one attending. I do like the idea of inviting former owners of cars as my car is from Continental,OH and have the warranty cards from the first two owners who are local to there. I am also going to work on trying to get a photo shoot at the original dealership that my car was delivered to. H&K Motors in Contential which is still selling Chevys and Buick’s to this day. I am so looking forward to next year and looking forward to meeting everyone!

Mr France and I have discussed this and wanted to do it. I am going to sponsor "FAOA Fastest Firehawk 2019" with $100 going to whoever runs the quickest 1/4 mile. I will be running the 1/4 but will exclude myself, of course.
I have my camshaft from the Hawk. We can use it and weld a plaque to it so year after year the new FFF member's name is on it. If you guys have better ideas...through them out here.
I will be doing this 100% for sure for the 25th as long as "Firehawk" says it is ok.

I also might be bringing a convertible 25th anniversary TA Firehawk too..............

Hi all,

Its been such a long time since I've been active on here.... Extremely excited for the 25th Anniversary! I will be attending for the first time. I have never attended the Rally so I do not want to speak out of turn.

Some thoughts: Love the professional photographer/videographer idea.... if there were a way to have the cruise captured (without breaking any laws) via photos/video, I think that would be killer.

Inviting Alumni and trying to coax some of the rare birds out would be amazing as well.

I know there is a drag racing piece of the weekend, but maybe for some of us who want to stretch the legs on on the Hawks without going all out, a private spot one of the days to "rent" the track for just the Hawk owners?? maybe before the full weekend events commence?

Planned travel routes to the Rally... I was responsible for a corporate event we hold every two years though MINI USA called MINI Takes The States. We set up "suggested" travel routes and cools stops along the way.

Last thing would be 25th Anniversary Hawk specific swag, as long as permissions were given for any trademark/licencing.

Just thinking out loud. I cant wait for this event and i'm excited to meet everyone.

Thanks,

Steve

the track usually have a dedicated block just for Firehawks and a money purse between owners. .. I'll be making the drive from New Mexico and a starting convoy point in Amarillo, TX.. dates TBD

The “convoy’s” have always been a great part of the travel!
We’re planning on an I-80 trek, like the past, we may start Friday morning around West-Central Illionois area. Most likely leaving central Nebraska early morning to mid-day on Thursday.
